Watering seedlings with a pitcher or even a long spouted watering can is sometimes a problem, especially when the plants are under a grow light. It is difficult to control how much water comes out, and sometimes the soil ends up being washed out of the little pots. At best, you make a mess. At worst, you injure a delicate plant. I have found that a turkey baster does the job. It is easy to control just where the water is going in a gentle stream. I also use it on plants that are a bit crowded in the pot. Otherwise, I just end up washing away soil without really watering the plant.

What a great idea! This falls into the “why didn’t I think of that?” category.
I water most of my seedlings from the bottom, but this would work well for the ones I can’t water that way. Thanks for the tip!
I rarely roast a turkey, so I have to get some use out of the baster! Thanks for visiting.
