How to Forage, Cultivate, and Cook with Elderberry
Author Susannah Shmurak recently released her new book, Everything Elderberry: How to Forage, Cultivate, and Cook with this Amazing Natural Remedy. Since I grow, forage, and enjoy using elderberries, I looked forward to receiving a copy of her book about this natural herbal remedy, and delicious berry.
Everything Elderberry
You know all about elderberry syrup, but there is so much more to both the herb, and the book. It really is a versatile herb.
Susannah will walk you through everything you need to know to identify, forage, grow, and use both elderflower and elderberry. And she does a thorough job of covering its benefits, citing the latest research.
Before diving in to the recipe section, be sure to read the section on safe use and preparation.
If you neither grow nor forage elderberry, you’ll learn how to source what you need for the recipes in the book.
And then you can move on to my favorite section – the 62 recipes for using elderflower and elderberries in everything from medicinal teas and tinctures to desserts and beverages, including wine and mead.
There’s even a section on skincare (and other things) where you’ll learn to make salves, lip balm, ink, and more.
As a gardener, I was especially interested in learning that I can use the leaves to make insect repellent or fertilizer for my organic garden.
I wholeheartedly recommend Everything Elderberry: How to Forage, Cultivate, and Cook with this Amazing Natural Remedy. Be sure to pick up a copy for yourself.
